When I was younger having curly hair was the devil so I began straightening it and then pretty much continued to do this for the best part of my teenage years. Fast forward to today and you will find rollers, hairspray and any anti frizz products; are my best friend! I have finally embraced the curls. I was lucky enough to review John Frieda’s Hydrating shampoo and conditioner from the infamous ‘Frizz-Ease’ range.
Firstly the smell is very subtle and not over empowered by fruits and perfume which is a lovely change as a lot of shampoo/conditioners can smell too sweet. I have been using this product for around 2 weeks now and I can admit I have noticed a change in my hair, it really smoothes waves for frizzy hair. When dried naturally my hair shapes beautiful waves (with the help of the enhancing oil which I will get to) and when dried with my trusty rollers it keeps all the major frizz at bay, which is hard to do up North with the crazy winds and sporadic rain showers. The shampoo and conditioner costs £5.99 each from Boots.com, which compared to products like Redken is an absolute bargain considering they do the same job! The other exciting product I received was the Dream Curls Enhancing Oil, this is a new product for me as I always used to use the John Frieda Frizz-Ease serum. As you can see below the product is split between a water based product and oil based all you have to do is shake it to mix the two up. It says to squeeze 10 drops into your hands and apply to damp hair. I tried a couple of things, firstly I did what they said and found that my hair dried beautifully and it helped keep the curls in place for at least 2 days. The other thing I tried was splitting my hair into two and putting 10 drops on each half, however I found that this made my hair feel very heavy and made it lose its volume. So I think I will be sticking to the experts advice! The Dream Curls Enhancing Oil is brand new to Boots and is available for £10.99 (ppssst 3 for 2 on selected hair products right now!)
