Today was our last day in New York. For another year we will say goodbye to this amazing city. We spent our last day wondering up 5th avenue having a look in a few shops and then up to MoMA ~ New York’s Museum of Modern Art ~ link. Tom and I were particularly interested in seeing the ‘Le Corbusier: An Atlas of Modern Landscapes’ ~ link as both of us are at Newcastle University studying Town Planning, as well as this exhibition MoMA currently have an interactive exhibition on called ‘The Rain Room’ ~ link.
This I was particularly excited about seeing, however we arrived a little bit late for the 2 hour queue, so I advise getting there early and not near closing time. However we were allowed to watch people in The Rain Room which was just as amazing. Here are a few photos from inside…
It might just look like people dancing around in the rain which you can pretty much see every other day back in the UK but this is different, the rain is triggered by sensors, when a person is walking directly underneath the sensors the rain will stop and only when they start to walk away does it start again, so watching this was pretty cool!
Walking around MoMA felt like you were miles away from New York the vast space is amazing. They are also student friendly which is a perfect way to spend a stormy day in NYC. After my first visit I think it is safe to say I will be making it a regular thing, for me it tops the Guggenheim any day.
