I have been to Cannes once, I was about 15 and it was just before the film festival – even then the atmosphere was quite magical. The city is beautiful with a real old Hollywood feel to it, the beaches are pretty average but I was truly spoilt… I was staying at the InterContinental Carlton – if only I’d been there a couple of weeks later I would have been rubbing shoulders (in the lift of course) with A listers. But alas I was not… I was far more interested in getting a tan for my Year 11 prom. For some reason WordPress isn’t letting me upload my own pictures, and when it does they are teeny tiny so annoying, any help? So in the meantime I will give you a quick whirl of who I think was the best dressed at Cannes.
First up the gorgeous Rosie Huntington-Whiteley…
I absolutely LOVE this dress. It is very simple – kinda like Blake Lively’s gown from the Met Gala. I am also loving the smokey eyes to go with the dress, I think this is such a classic look – she just couldn’t of gone wrong with.
I stared at this dress for quite a while, before deciding ‘yep I do like it’. Izabel Goulart looks slinky and sophisticated, Robert Cavalli has done a lovely job. The design is very flattering on her and I think it is a dress only small boobed women can get away with – otherwise there would be major side boob going on! #notchic.
Wow Adrianna Lima, look at that necklace! I think that really makes the outfit, although Elie Saab has done a grand job with the beautiful detailing on the bustier.
And another grand job from Elie Saab…
I love this style of dress, so prom like, princess like and elegant – and black is classic – Sonam Kapoor looks lovely and so smiley! I. Love. It.
I think the theme at Cannes this year was less is more (not clothing) the classic looks, black jumpsuit cinched at the waist with a gold belt and matching accessories – minimal make up – beautiful! Much better than some of the stuff seen on Jennifer Lawrence lately.
Natasha Poly, you are a black swan indeed! This Oscar de la Renta gown screams gothic – it is one of the major trends this S/S’14 and I love it – I love it even more than all those sickening pastels and florals we see allllll the time.
This isn’t a look we see on the red carpet very often, and I think it is sad. Aymeline Valade – I was going to say looks gorgeous but I think that is the wrong word – I’m going to go with beautiful. The tuxedo by Pallas looks fantastic on her boyish figure! I love the way the trousers cut off at the ankle and how she has stunning diamond earrings in.
No surprises here that I am featuring these two AGAIN – I just can’t get enough of either of them and Blake can’t get enough of Gucci – I don’t know when my ‘thing’ for Ryan started, possibly after a particular scene in The Proposal with Sandra Bullock (if you haven’t seen it, you need to just for that scene alone! And Betty White singing about balls…yes really!) but anyway I have always loved Blake especially after Gossip Girl!! And she has been rocking Cannes red carpet after red carpet…
One word GORGEOUS (and she is in another Gucci Premiere dress with stunning Casadei shoes.
Ahhhhh a Chanel Couture … stunning AGAIN. Does she ever get it wrong?
Cate just proves that you can wear A/W in S/S this Valentino dress is full of texture and ever so slightly gothic.
Who has been your favourites from Cannes? I think you can probably guess mine.
