Last Sunday I was invited by Flipside PR to an event in North West London, to launch Essence make up here in the UK! Admittedly I’d never heard of Essence before, but pretty much the majority of Europe has – the UK is the last place for them to launch. So Essence is a german brand that launched in 2002 and has now become the number 1 cosmetic brand in Europe, they disapprove of animal testing and also have a ‘negative list’ where they banish certain chemicals that we don’t want in our beauty products, AND on top of all of this the average price for each product is £2. Essence will be launching in Wilkos nationwide very soon :) so hurry! At the moment if you are in London they have a stand alone store in Westfield White City. So go. go. go.
The event was held at sunbeam studios in Ladbroke Grove, upon entering I was completely blown away… there were about 8 tables with all of the products on the table for us to play to with and also take home, as well as this there was a lovely lady doing nails and a make up artist on hand to show us how to use the products and give us makeovers (somewhere on twitter my before and after pictures are lurking about). Essence had thought of everything, I was greeted with a lovely watermelon drink, there were charging points for cameras and phones and free wifi for all of us bloggers to go tweeting away, the team had also provided a pure white background with super bright lights to take top quality pictures – I was too busy getting my nails and make up done to be able to use this feature, but the feature that I loved the most, was the make up display stand – it was exactly how it is going to be in the shops, everything was clearly organised and it gave you such a good feel of what the brand is about and how many products they have! But the actual BEST part of the whole event was we were able to pick up our goodie bags and fill them with the products that we wanted from the stand itself, as if we were shopping! There were people on hand to restock the display, which it did need a lot, I walked away with a mammoth sized goodie bag. Towards the end of the event the Essence team taxied us over to Westfield White City to show off their brand spanking new stand alone store, this was such a lovely gesture and we were greeted with nibbles, drinks and yet another goodie bag! Over the next few months I will be reviewing some of my favourite products, my make up bag is now pretty much 90% Essence while I trial and test things for you guys! Here are some pictures from the event, and a peek at the products.
